The Pursuit of Incorporation has Stopped!

At their November 13th meeting, the Arch Cape Incorporation Steering Committee voted 4-2 to stop their pursuit of Incorporation.

The 4 Arch Cape Steering Committee members that voted to stop the pursuit indicated that opposition by the community was a contributing factor of their decision, “the community would not at this time support a recommendation to adopt the permanent tax rate necessary to achieve those higher service levels” (highlighted on page 5). The 2 members* in favor of pursing incorporation indicated that “The community is now more engaged and informed and has the capacity to understand the larger goal.” (highlighted on page 6)

The final version of the Incorporation Study will be reviewed/revised/adopted by the Steering Committee at their final meeting on December 11th at 11:00 AM. The Steering Committee will be discharged after that meeting.

*Note: Richard Henry is listed in the Steering Committee report as 1 of the 3 supporters of the minority position in favor of continuing towards Incorporation. He Does Not represent Arch Cape and as such is not included in the 4-2 tally. He is the sole representative of Arcadia.

With this behind all of us, Wishing everyone a happy holiday season!

  3. “Correction. The vote was 4-3. All Steering Committee members vote on all motions, with one exception. If members for an area withdraw their area from the study, those members move into an advisory only role and do not vote. “

    • Linda’s comment suggests that a clarification may be useful. Once the Falcon Cove representatives decided against supporting incorporation, 7 voting steering committee members remained, 6 representing Arch Cape and 1 representing Arcadia. In the November 13 vote, 4 of the Arch Cape representatives voted against incorporation and 2 of the Arch Cape representative voted for incorporation, resulting in a 4-2 tally of Arch Cape representation. The sole representative of Arcadia voted for incorporation, resulting in a 0-1 tally of Arcadia representation.
