This is an update with today’s news. A more complete communication with survey results will be published next week.
1. Falcon Cove has withdrawn: Both Falcon Cove – Clatsop County and Falcon Cove – Tillamook County have withdrawn from the incorporation study. <click here to read their letter to the Steering Committee>
The Clatsop County – Falcon Cove members of the Steering Committee surveyed their residents and found that there was “a near-consensus among stakeholders, and many quite vehemently,. … that incorporation with Arch Cape is not currently in the best interests of the community.” Thus, Falcon Cove withdrew.
2. Steering Committee persists in continuing the project – Though only Arch Cape and Arcadia remain, the Steering Committee continues to spend time & money to move forward with incorporation.
Why aren’t the Arch Cape members of the Steering Committee surveying the Arch Cape residents, as was done in Falcon Cove?
3. Permanent Property Tax Rate for Arch Cape & Arcadia will increase from that previously reported. The permanent property rate published in the Incorporation Study assumed property taxes from Falcon Cove residents. Now, since it is not realistic to scale down the the required level of services, the permanent property tax rate for Arch Cape & Arcadia tax payers will increase.
